Nike & England release World Cup away shirt - with one stand-out detail not seen in 20 years
England’s 2026 World Cup away kit has now been released alongside all of the other Nike away kits ahead of this year’s tournament. However, there’s one detail that immediately stands out, as it has not been seen on an England kit for almost 20 years.
With the World Cup getting ever closer, all teams have now released their kits, as a full slate of new jerseys are revealed for the tournament, which is taking place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.
Of course, one of the most exciting teams whether you’re a fan or not is England, who are bringing back a classic feature in their modern kit.
The kit was released in March, and as shown below, features a striking red with a navy and white trim throughout.

But it’s not the colours that are drawing attention, but something more subtle.
England have brought back the central crest
The big change in the 2026 England World Cup away kit is the badge placement.
England’s crest will sit in the centre of the shirt – something we haven’t seen on an away kit since 2008.

It’s a small tweak on paper, but it completely changes how the shirt looks. Central crests can give kits a slightly more retro feel and really change how it looks - often proving to be fan favourite when done correctly.
This is seen across a wider range of the Nike away kits ahead of this tournament, including the Jordan Brazil shirt, the first Jordan-brand international shirt.
Classic feel on new kit
The shirt itself is a deep red, with darker navy detailing and white touches throughout. There’s also a subtle pattern woven into the fabric, featuring lions and stars, though it’s not overly loud.
The full kit is includes navy shorts and red socks, keeping things fairly clean and traditional.
Between the stronger red tone and the return of a centred badge, it leans more into that classic look rather than trying anything too experimental.
What about the home kit?
The England home kit has also been released, white throughout with blue trims and some red accents.

Unlike the away kit, the home kit doesn’t have a centralised crest.
